Who we are

South Lanarkshire Trailers is responsible for the details you send us through this website (the “controller”). Ring us on 01698 479607 or use the contact page.

The contact form

If you use the contact form we receive your name, email address, phone number (if you give one) and your message. We use these only to reply to you. Our reason in law is that you asked us to take steps before a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) and, for follow-up questions, our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)). You do not have to use the form: you can ring us instead.

The form reaches us as an email. We do not use your details for marketing, and we do not sell or share them.

Who handles it for us

Sellframe built this website and runs its contact form on our behalf. It receives the form, stores it briefly (see below) and passes it to us by email.

DigitalOcean provides the server that runs the website and the form, in New York, USA.

Resend (USA) delivers the email to us. It keeps a copy of each email it sends for 30 days, and then deletes it.

Cloudflare (USA) runs the spam check on the form (see “The spam check” below).

The United States is outside the UK. DigitalOcean, Resend and Cloudflare each state that they participate in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, and UK law allows personal data to be sent to US companies that do (the “UK–US data bridge”).

The spam check

To keep spam programs out of the form, the contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that tells people from programs. Most visitors never see it; now and then it asks you to tick a box. When you open the contact page, your browser sends Cloudflare your IP address and technical details of your browser and device. When you send the form, Sellframe’s server asks Cloudflare whether the check was passed, and gives it your IP address again. What you type into the form is not sent to Cloudflare. To do the check, Cloudflare’s frame keeps a small item in your browser’s local storage; it is not a cookie, and this website itself sets none.

Cloudflare does this for us as a processor. It also uses these details itself, as a controller, to improve how it detects programs: see Cloudflare’s Turnstile privacy addendum. Our reason in law is our legitimate interest in keeping the form free of spam (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). If the check does not work for you, ring us instead.

How long we keep it

The message is kept on the website server for 90 days, then deleted. A nightly backup copy of that store is kept for 7 more days.

The email we receive is kept in our mailbox for as long as it is useful.

Server logs (the page asked for, the time, and your IP address with its last digits removed) are kept for at most 14 days, to keep the website running and secure.

Your IP address is also used, in memory only, to stop one visitor from sending the form many times in a few minutes, and is passed to Cloudflare for the spam check. It is not stored with your message.

Cookies and fonts

This website sets no cookies. Apart from the spam check on the contact page, it loads nothing from other companies’ servers. Its fonts, Barlow and Barlow Condensed, are served from our own server under the SIL Open Font Licence (licence).

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the details we hold about you, correct them, delete them, or restrict or object to how we use them. Ring us or use the contact form and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
