Livestock trailers
We sell new and used livestock trailers. A good one carries animals safely, lets air through and is easy to wash out. These are the things to look at.

What to look at

Size and partitions
Think about the animals you carry most and how many at a time. A movable gate lets you split a load or carry fewer. A sheep deck adds a second level for carrying more sheep or lambs.
Floor
Timber floors rot where urine collects. On a used trailer, press along the boards and lift any mats to see what they hide. A floor that drains and washes out easily saves work.
Ventilation
Animals need air on a journey. Look at how the sides and roof let air in, and check that any vents or sliding sections work and shut properly.
Ramp and gates
The ramp should have a good non-slip surface, lift without a struggle and sit square when raised. Gates and bolts should shut firmly so nothing works loose on the road.
Chassis and running gear
A galvanised chassis resists rust. Check the axle, suspension, bearings and brakes, and read the date code on each tyre: old tyres can crack even with plenty of tread.
Weight and brakes
A trailer that weighs over 750kg when loaded must have working brakes, and animals add a lot of weight. Check the trailer’s plate and your car’s towing limit before you buy.
Before you buy any trailer, read the buying advice. It covers your car’s towing limit, your licence and the weights to check.
