Plant trailers
A plant trailer is a low trailer with ramps for carrying small machines such as mini diggers, dumpers and rollers. We sell plant trailers. These are the things to look at.

What to look at

Weight
Add up the machine’s weight, with any attachments, and check it against the trailer’s payload. Then check the trailer and the machine together against your car’s towing limit.
Ramps
The ramps should be long enough for a gentle slope and strong enough for the machine. Check that they lift, stow and lock without a fight.
Deck
Look for a flat deck with no bends or cracks, and a surface that grips when it is wet.
Tie-down points
Strong lashing points let you chain or strap a machine down properly. Check them for wear and cracks.
Winch
A hand winch helps with a machine that will not start. If one is fitted, check that it works.
Brakes and tyres
A loaded plant trailer is heavy and must have working brakes. Check that the tyres are rated for the load as well as having good tread.
Before you buy any trailer, read the buying advice. It covers your car’s towing limit, your licence and the weights to check.
